Terms of service
Last updated: June 26, 2026
1. Agreement to these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and BugBoard. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. If you’re using BugBoard on behalf of a company or team, you confirm you’re allowed to agree to these terms on its behalf.
If you don’t agree with something here, that’s okay — but then please don’t use the service.
2. What BugBoard is
BugBoard is a bug-tracking tool with a built-in kanban board. Your applications send bug reports through our SDKs and ingest API, and those reports appear as cards you can triage, comment on, and move across a board. These terms cover the website, the application, the SDKs, and the API — everything we offer under the BugBoard name.
3. Eligibility and your account
You need to be able to form a binding contract to use BugBoard, and you agree to give us accurate account information and keep it up to date.
You’re responsible for your account credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password safe, turn on two-factor authentication, and tell us promptly if you think your account has been compromised.
4. Acceptable use
Use BugBoard to track bugs and run your projects — not for anything unlawful or harmful. Specifically, you agree not to:
- Breach, probe, or overload the service, or try to access projects and data that aren’t yours.
- Upload content you don’t have the right to share, or anything malicious, infringing, or unlawful.
- Resell, sublicense, or white-label the service without our written permission.
- Abuse the SDK or ingest endpoints in ways that degrade the service for other people.
- Work around plan limits, quotas, or rate limits by technical or other means.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or copy the software except where the law expressly allows it.
5. SDK, API keys, and fair use
Each project gets API keys for sending bug data to BugBoard. Treat those keys like passwords: keep them secret, rotate them if they leak, and remember that you’re responsible for traffic sent with them.
Ingest is subject to your plan’s ingest quota and a per-minute rate limit. If a project sends far more than its fair share or in a way that threatens the service for others, we may throttle, queue, or temporarily suspend its ingest, and we’ll tell you when we can.
6. Your content and who owns it
You own the data you and your applications send to BugBoard — your projects, tasks, comments, attachments, and bug reports. We don’t claim ownership of any of it.
You grant us only the limited permission we need to run the service: to store, process, and display your content to you and the project members you’ve invited. You’re responsible for having the right to send us whatever you send, and for scrubbing sensitive data first. How we handle personal data is covered in our privacy policy.
7. Our intellectual property
The BugBoard software, design, branding, and documentation are ours and stay ours. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while your account is in good standing — and nothing more. You may not use our name or logo without permission.
8. Plans, billing, and cancellation
The Hobby plan is free. Paid plans (Indie, Professional, and Team) are billed monthly or yearly through Paddle, our merchant of record, which also handles applicable taxes. Paid subscriptions renew automatically each period until you cancel.
Upgrades take effect immediately, with a prorated charge for the rest of the period; downgrades take effect at the end of the current period. You can cancel anytime: your paid features stay active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, after which your account moves to the free plan. We don’t offer refunds for partial periods except where the law requires it.
9. Plan limits and quotas
Every plan has limits — the number of projects, members per project, and how many events you can ingest — all listed on the pricing page. Existing data keeps working when you hit a limit, but you won’t be able to create new resources, and ingest beyond your quota may be rejected until you upgrade or reduce usage.
10. Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feature requests, thank you — we read them. By sharing feedback you let us use it to improve BugBoard freely, without any obligation or payment to you.
11. Third-party services
Some parts of the service rely on third parties — Paddle for payments, for example — and their terms and policies apply to their part of the job. We’re also not responsible for third-party services, libraries, or integrations you choose to connect to your own applications.
12. Availability and changes to the service
We work hard to keep BugBoard fast and available, but on self-serve plans the service is provided “as is” without an uptime guarantee, and we may need to take it down occasionally for maintenance.
The product will keep evolving — we’ll add, change, and sometimes remove features over time. If we make a change that materially reduces functionality you’re paying for, we’ll give you reasonable notice in advance.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent the law allows, BugBoard is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don’t promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose — though we genuinely try to make it all three.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BugBoard won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
15. Indemnification
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used BugBoard, the content you sent, or your breach of these terms, you agree to defend and cover us for that claim — including reasonable legal costs. We’ll let you know about the claim and cooperate with your defense.
16. Suspension and termination
You can delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms or put the service at risk, with notice where it’s practical to give it. When an account ends, we delete its data in line with the retention rules in our privacy policy.
17. Resolving disputes
If something goes wrong, please talk to us first — email support@bugboard.dev and we’ll do our best to sort it out quickly and fairly. Most issues never need to go further than a good conversation, and we’d much rather fix the problem than argue about it.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes, we’ll notify you by email or in the app at least fourteen days before they take effect. If you keep using BugBoard after that date, you’re accepting the updated terms.
19. Other terms
A few standard but important points: these terms (together with our privacy policy) are the entire agreement between us. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we haven’t waived it. You can’t transfer your rights under these terms without our consent, though we may assign ours as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business.
